About this event

This is the first in our four-part series of follow-up collaboration events to the “Intersectional and Intentional Community Building” event we had in April, with special guest Simone Ross (https://www.linkedin.com/in/simone-d-ross/)!

Keeping in mind everything that was discussed in the first event, we want to put action to words by working together to develop practical ways we can build intersectionality. This first session will focus on our workplaces. The following three sessions will focus on:

  1. Philanthropy
  2. Education
  3. Entrepreneurship

Here are key words and definitions to help guide our discussions:

Intersectionality: the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage

Intentionality: the fact of being deliberate or purposive

Systemic oppression: refers to the mistreatment of people within a specific group, supported and enforced by the society and its institutions

Community: a group of people living in the same place, a feeling of fellowship with others

Equity: the quality of being fair and impartial

Please join us as new or returning guests. The more collaboration and innovative ideas, the better!
